Hi there!

We are Brian Baker and Jeff Park (thus the name of our property - “Baker Park”).  We have been together since 1998 and got married in 2006.  We have a wonderful life together and have done a lot of travelling and have had a lot of adventures!  Life has never been dull for your hosts.

In 2019, after we were both retired, we decided - on a whim and to the shock and amazement of family and friends - to sell our house in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, pack up what we could and move to the east coast.  

We love the Maritimes and after much research and a visit, chose this property in Church Point, Nova Scotia on the French Acadian Shore.  At that time there was no hint of the upcoming “Covid Pandemic” and that certainly caused some difficulties as it hit right in the middle of the big move, but we persevered and finally settled into Maritime life, acquiring our farm critters, learning French (well, we’re trying), enjoying fresh seafood and getting to know the area.

The outbuilding that eventually became the guest cottage was simply a one room workshop when we bought the property.  We early on decided to have it renovated to accommodate guests.  While the pandemic caused some delays in the project, we found an amazing local contractor who did most of the interior renos.  At this writing, the exterior landscaping is still a work in progress but it’s getting there.  

We are happy to finally be able to provide accommodation to those who wish to explore this part of Canada, the Maritimes and its amazing landscape and culture.
